Are You Sure You Have The Right Kid?

Have you ever had someone recount a story about one of your children and questioned if they are talking to the right people?  A few days ago a fellow parent from the local elementary school tracked us down to tell us how sweet our 10 year old was.  We exchanged baffled looks, shrugged and listened to the evidence.  Now I’m not saying that we think he’s inherently Evil or even remotely bad, it’s just odd to hear such stories from a third party.

Apparently there is a new student in his class who speaks very little English and being new his name was not on the list of kids to receive Field Day T-Shirts.  Our son took it upon himself to bring the boy down to the office and explain the situation to someone who could help get him a shirt.  The problem was rectified and they went back to their classroom.

What’s most interesting about all of this is that he never mentioned a word of this at home.  I guess this is where we pat ourselves on the backs as parents for raising a child with so much empathy and kindness.  Kudos all around.
